Horizons Youth Program

Dear Friends,

After 30 years of service, due to underfunding and lack of funding, the Horizon Youth Literacy program for students (kindergarten through 5th grade) can’t continue for the 2017-2018 academic year.

As many of you are aware, the United Way no longer provides allocations for this age group. Since the majority of grants are restricted for 6th thru 12th grade students, Sabathani was unable to narrow the gap left by the United Way’s departure.

The Leadership Team and Board worked feverishly to narrow the gap by requesting bridge funding from foundations, county, and private donations. We are thankful for the Pohlad grant which allowed Sabathani to have the summer program.

We are very proud of the staff for providing a quality after-school enrichment program. The community, staff and board have always been proud to be associated with this program.

A lot of praise goes to Bobby Lay, the program manager. He turned the program around by using his skills and experience to enhance the program each year. His team was united with displaying love, dedication, passion and commitment to the students in the community
