- Get Paid to Learn: Earn $550 per week while learning from instructors from the Center for Energy and Environment. The first two weeks of training will be facilitated by staff from HIRED and focus on career exploration and career readiness, and the following three weeks will focus on building science. All five weeks are required to attend to earn the full stipend amount and opportunity to earn the certification.
- Earn Valuable Credentials: Receive an industry-recognized certification in Building Science Principles (BSP). Building science explores how changing one part of a home can affect homeowners’ comfort, health, and safety.

Instruction will be led by Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) and will include the following:
- Basics of building science and home energy audits, insulation, and air sealing
- Installation training from experts
- Relevant job-site safety guidelines, math for construction, and more
- Career readiness (job search, resume writing, interview skills, etc.)
- Job search assistance
- Basic support services (bus, gas cards, etc.)
- Connection to housing, food, and other resources
Requirements to qualify for the Home Energy Career Training:
- You are between the ages of 18-24 years old.
- You live in a 6-mile radius of George Floyd Square in Minneapolis.
- You’re legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- You have a minimum 5th grade reading and math level.
- You have basic computer skills.
- You have a driver’s license or are in the process of obtaining one.

Earn Building Analyst BPI Certification - TRACK 2: Insulation Contractor
Earn Home Insulation BPI Certification
Internship Wage: $18 per hour
Starting Wages in Home Energy Careers:
- Insulation Contractor: $20-25 per hour
- Energy Auditor: $18.50-23 per hour
