Content

Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking discussion on the impacts of incarceration, the first event of a three-part series.

Our keynote speakers, Marquise Bowie, Coley Gates, Ja’far, and James Ferguson, have a combined experience of 97 years in incarceration. They will share their personal journeys, including their reintegration into society and the profound effects on their families and communities.

This conversation aims to shed light on the underlying violence in our community and the decision-making processes that lead individuals away from their communities.

The event welcomes everyone in the community, with a special focus on youth and their families, as well as law enforcement officers, judges, legislators, and other individuals who have an impact on the criminal justice system.

Saturday, June 10
12:30pm – 3:00pm
Sabathani Community Center Auditorium
310 East 38th Street, Minneapolis, MN

This event is proudly produced by The Agape Movement in partnership with Sabathani Community Center, Centered on Youth, Cultural Wellness Center, and Pathways to Freedom. All participating organizations will be present, providing more information about their services and opportunities to get involved.

Stay tuned for the continuation of this conversation later in summer 2023:

  • Part 2: Continuing the conversation on what incarceration looks like
  • Part 3: A Q&A with law enforcement panel

Dates for these additional events will be announced soon. Make sure to subscribe to the Sabathani email list for updates.

The event aligns with the mission of the Agape Movement: To transform street energy into community energy through advocacy, empowerment, and education, and to contribute to building a stronger, more peaceful, and safer community.
