A Summertime Block Party to Remember

On June 8, the Sabathani Community Center hosted a “Summer Summer Summertime Block Party” to kick off the summer and celebrate the end of the school year. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather, with blue skies and a cool breeze. Best of all, the community came together for an afternoon of fun and connection.

Here are just a few highlights:

• Vendors from the People’s Market MPLS
• Numerous community organizations sharing their resources, including the District Office of Rep. Ilhan Omar (with Rep. Omar herself joining the festivities!)
• Delicious food trucks and a fun bouncy house
• Soul Line Dance with Tina Jackson
• DJ Q Bear spinning the tunes
• A basketball tournament organized by Don’t Shoot Guns, Shoot Hoops
• Roller skating with Twin Cities Skaters
• Double dutch jump rope with Pros of the Rope

You Spoke, We Listened

You asked for more intergenerational celebrations and connections, and this event was our way of bringing you that.
