Black women, girls, and femmes deserve to be safe — and your voice can help make that happen.

Date: Wednesday, October 15
Time: 1–3pm
Location: Banquet Room

For too long, Black women, girls, and femmes have been failed or further harmed by state agencies, emergency services, and community organizations. The Justice in Institutions for Black Women, Girls, and Femmes (J4BWGF) Survey is the first statewide survey of its kind, designed to center their needs, safety, and trust in support systems.

Why Participate?

  • Be part of a statewide movement to end violence against Black women, girls, and femmes.
  • Shape real change. Your input will directly inform county-funded programs in Year 2 of the initiative.
  • Receive a thank-you gift. Survey participants will receive a $20 e-gift card for their time and expertise.

Program Highlights

  • Presentation: Learn about Research in Action’s 5-Year Special Initiative and the purpose of this groundbreaking statewide survey.
  • Survey Time: Complete the survey onsite (average: 20 minutes) with staff available to answer questions and provide support.
  • Closing Share-Out: Reflect and share your thoughts on the survey and the initiative. Participants may also volunteer to share a public statement or help spread the word.

Who Can Participate?

  • This event is for elders and older adults who identify as Black women or femmes, regardless of national origin or culture. Elders are welcome to bring others who identify as Black women or femmes, ages 14 and up.
  • We use the term femmes to include those outside the gender binary (non-binary or gender non-conforming).
  • Participation is self-identified — staff will not ask participants to verify race, ethnicity, or gender identity.

Tech Note: To complete the survey, participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet if small print on a phone is difficult. Assistance will also be available onsite.

Space is limited – register by October 8 to save your spot!
