Unidos MN’s Workforce Development Program prepares participants for well-paying careers in union trades and emerging green jobs. This intensive, paid training helps you build in-demand skills, earn a nationally recognized credential, and connect directly to employment opportunities.
What You’ll Gain

- Hands-on training in construction, energy auditing, and carpentry

- Financial literacy workshops (budgeting, credit, understanding paychecks)
- Navigation support, including help with childcare resources, driver’s license testing, and benefits applications
Who Should Apply
This program is for Minnesotans ready to start a new, higher-paying career in the trades. Training is in person in South Minneapolis. Full attendance is required; remote or hybrid options are not available.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be a Minnesota resident
- Be able to provide SSN and I-9 documentation
- Be English-speaking
Additional requirements:
- Minimum 8th-grade math and reading level
- Ability to lift and perform physical work
- Willingness to obtain a driver’s license during or after training
Program Commitment
- 3 weeks of training
- Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (30–40 hours per week)
- Combination of classroom instruction and field-based learning
- Ongoing job placement and retention support after training
