Minnesota LYNX and Target Team Up with Sabathani for Back-to-School Shopping Spree
For the second year, Sabathani Community Center teamed up with the Minnesota Lynx and Target to help local youth head into the school year feeling confident, prepared, and celebrated.
Twelve girls from Sabathani were paired with Lynx players for a special back-to-school shopping spree at Target. Each participant received $1,000 to shop for clothing, school supplies, and other essentials to help them start the year with what they need to thrive.
The experience was about more than filling shopping carts. The girls spent time talking, laughing, and shopping alongside the players, creating an opportunity for connection and encouragement as they prepared for the year ahead.
“Data shows that if kids have this kind of experience going into the school year, they do better, they’re more confident, and they’re focused on doing work in school,” said Sherri Green, Sabathani’s Director of Critical Services.
The annual shopping event is one more way Sabathani and our community partners are working together to empower young people and give them the tools and confidence to succeed.
