August 2026: Growing Stronger Together

As we move through the heart of summer, I am reminded of the incredible strength, resilience, and generosity that define the Sabathani Community Center family. This August is especially meaningful as we celebrate 60 years of serving South Minneapolis—a milestone made possible by generations of community members, partners, volunteers, staff, and supporters who have believed in our mission. 

Every day, we witness the impact of our collective efforts, from providing nutritious meals and workforce development opportunities to supporting youth, families, and seniors. These accomplishments are only possible because of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and community members who continue to invest in Sabathani and in one another. 

As we prepare for our 60th Anniversary Block Party, I’m reminded that Sabathani has always been more than a building or a collection of programs. It is a place where neighbors come together, where relationships are built, and where people find the support they need to move forward. Whether you’re attending one of our summer programs, volunteering your time, supporting our initiatives, or simply sharing our story, you are helping strengthen our community every day. 

While anniversaries invite us to reflect on how far we’ve come, they also encourage us to look ahead. Across the center this summer, young people are preparing for future careers, families are strengthening their health and well-being, older adults are staying active and connected, and neighbors continue to access the resources they need to thrive. Together, we are building more than programs—we are creating opportunity, fostering hope, and investing in the future of South Minneapolis.

Whether you’ve been part of our story for decades or are just getting to know us, I hope you’ll join us at our 60th Anniversary Block Party as we celebrate our shared history and the future we’re building together.
