Your wisdom and experiences can help create systems that are more responsive and accountable to Black women, girls, and femmes across Minnesota. 

Join Sabathani and our partners for Black Women Elders: Wisdom Into Action, an opportunity to hear what has happened since the 2025 Justice in Institutions for Black Women, Girls, and Femmes (J4BWGF) Statewide Survey — and to help shape what comes next. 

For too long, Black women, girls, and femmes have experienced systemic harm from institutions that are intended to provide support and safety, including healthcare, housing, state agencies, emergency services, and community organizations. The 2025 Statewide Survey was designed to better understand their perceptions of and experiences with these institutions. 

Now, the survey findings are being put into action. 

At this gathering, participants will: 

  • Hear how results from the 2025 Statewide Survey are being used to create change in programs across Minnesota 
  • Help shape how Research in Action shares the survey findings through a publicly accessible, interactive dashboard 
  • Offer insight on a new scorecard tool being developed to encourage greater responsiveness and accountability to Black women, girls, and femmes 
  • Continue contributing their experiences and wisdom to this important work 

Participants will receive $25 compensation, and lunch will be provided. 

Who Should Attend?

This event is open to elders and older adults who identify as Black women or femmes, regardless of national origin or culture. Elders are also welcome to bring others who identify as Black women, girls, or femmes, ages 14 and older. 

We especially encourage elders who participated in the 2025 Statewide Survey to attend and learn how their responses have informed the findings and next steps. 

The term femmes is used here to include people outside the gender binary, including those who are non-binary, gender expansive, or gender non-conforming. 

Participation is self-identified. Staff will not ask participants to verify race, ethnicity, or gender identity.
