Senior Prom Magic: An Evening of Joy and Connection

Senior Prom Magic: An Evening of Joy and Connection

On Saturday, August 24, over 100 guests gathered for a special Starry Night Senior Prom. Focused on ages 55 and up, this special event was brought to life through the collaboration of Sabathani Community Center, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Volunteers of America Elder Connection. The evening was filled with dancing, picture-taking, and joyful moments, creating lasting memories for all in attendance.

Attendees were treated to a variety of activities, including a “Glam Room” for a little extra sparkle, music and dancing, and a delicious meal catered by Crossroads Catering. The crowning of the Prom King and Queen was a special highlight, as the entire room cheered in celebration of these treasured community members. Some seniors were even escorted by their family members, including sons, daughters, and grandsons, which made the experience all the more meaningful.

For many of the attendees, this was a particularly special evening, as some had never been to their prom before. One senior shared that it was the best outing she had ever had. She was initially worried she wouldn’t be able to dance, but to her delight, she got the chance to join in on the fun.

A special thank you to Mrs. Freddie English for donating and creating the centerpieces, as well as Bluebirds and Blooms, and Gifts for Seniors for their generous contributions. Their support helped make the evening truly memorable. Thanks also to the dedication of our event organizers: Joyce Mayes of Sabathani Community Center, Angelique Kingsbury of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Patricia Jones of Volunteers of America Elder Connection
